Thomas Hoffmann, born 1971 in Hamburg. Studied sociology, psychology and political science at the University of Hamburg and the Free University of Berlin. Diploma in sociology in 1999. From 1998 to 2002, practical work as an educator in various residential and day care centres for people with disabilities, individual case worker for mentally ill adults, teacher in the field of adult education for people with disabilities. From 2001 to 2007, research assistant at the Faculty of Special Education at the Ludwigsburg University of Teacher Education and at the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne. From 2007 to 2018 Assistant Professor (Akademischer Rat/Oberrat). 2011 Doctorate in educational science. 2015/2016 Substitute Professor of Education for Severe Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities and Inclusive Education at the Institute for Special Needs Education at Heidelberg University of Teacher Education. 2016/2017 Visiting Professor of Rehabilitation Sociology at the Institute for Rehabilitation Sciences at Humboldt University in Berlin. From 2018 to 2024 Professor of Inclusive Education at the Institute for Teacher Education and School Research at the University of Innsbruck Since 2024 Professor of General Pedagogy for People with Disabilities and Pedagogy for People with Learning Disabilities at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
